Sustainable Homes is a leading training and advisory consultancy. Founded in 1997 we are 100% owned by Hastoe Housing Group, a registered housing provider.

We have particular expertise in providing training on environmental standards, such as the Code for Sustainable Homes; and retrofitting existing dwellings and using the Green Deal. Specific training courses include:

Energy Efficiency for asset managers
Green Deal Advisor
Saving money in the home – for residents and staff

Sustainable Homes has completed research and guidance on climate change adaptation and mitigation in the built environment on behalf of the Environment Agency, Department for Environment, Farming and Rural Affairs and the Homes and Communities Agency.

In 2008 with support of the government such as the Homes and Communities Agency, WWF-UK, UK Green Building Council, Mayor of London and the National Housing Federation, an environmental best practice group was formed. The Sustainable Homes Index For Tomorrow assesses how well registered providers are mitigating and adapting to the effects of climate change. The assessment methodology, now used throughout the UK was formed with initial register provider members.

Formerly Innovation and Development Manager at Housing Corporation, Andrew is a trainer of Code for Sustainable Homes assessors.

Andrew sat or is sitting on the following steering groups:
- Senior Steering Group on the Code for Sustainable Homes which developed the Code technical guidance
- Housing Corporation Gold Award champion on sustainability.

Andrew has spoken about sustainable housing issues at numerous engagements, including:
- BBC breakfast programme
- Ecobuild conference
- the International Social Housing Summit at the Hague

Sustainable Homes manage, the Sustainable Homes Index For Tomorrow, a sustainability best practise group representing one million homes. Andrew won the UK social housing sustainability champion of the year award for 2010. Sustainable Homes are also proud winners of the Green Apple Building and Construction Award 2011.
